Tomi Balogun-Juarez First Solo Art Exhibition

August 16, 2022|Museum & Gallery

Tomi Balogun-Juarez, the sculptor artist is also talented in painting. This month is her first solo opening show displaying both her sculptures and paintings. In attending the event, I was very impressed by the incredible and complex detail expressed in Tomi's artwork. Each piece reveals its own story that is very captivating. Tomi states, "My art is like my journal, and in sharing my life experiences, creatively." The artist's color pallet, utilizes variations of contrasting and bright colors that grab your attention and brings positivity to your spirit. In the paining below  titled "Generational Curses," you can see many variations of color pallet.

In the sculpture piece titled, "Bloom", it displays a couple in love, connected and surrounded by nature uniting them together. and displaying movement from the branches like blowing in the wind.

Next piece titled "Forgiveness" very spiritual and intimate image where you see a couple embracing and supporting each other. This painting reminds me of a quote I found on Instagram;

"I want to work on myself with you by my side. And I want you to work on yourself with me by your side. Life isn't easy, let's do this together." I love this quote it expresses the core of what it feels to be supportive of each other in a loving relationship.

The painting titled, "Dangers Seen and Unseen," is a very moving painting, that articulates the powers of the spiritual world in how our guardian angels protect us from dangers. The man in the image is rescued from his guardian angle from the group of men with firearms. This is a reminder that we are not alone in moments of trial in our lives.

Overall, Tomi's artwork is very encouraging and fills your heart with awareness, and love. It's very moving and spiritual, and expressive in the colors, textures, themes, and in the manner where she combines nature in her work. Tomi is a positive person and her personality shines through.
